When I first started reading this book, I have to admit that I wasn't in love with it. The writing felt a little choppy to me and I felt like I was being told what was going on rather than feeling it with the characters. As the story progressed though, I found this to be less of an issue and I fell for the characters.
Jamie is a heartbroken guy who is trying to get over a jerk of a cheating ex when he stumbles upon some shifters in the woods. Ward, one of those shifters, finds his mate when meeting Jamie. Yes, there was total insta-lust with these two mates, but Jamie tried to hold off and I appreciated that despite feeling the connection, the author had them try to legitimize their feelings before jumping into the complete bonding and making it a quickie love story.
One of my absolute favorite characters was Keenan and I was very disappointed in how his love story turned out, but again, I think the author played it true to character. I truly hope Keenan gets a book of his own, because I adored him. I see there are 6 books now and none of them are Keenan, so I am putting out a plea that he get his own book!
The secondary characters in this book were great. I liked Dominic and the way he ran his pack. He is definitely Alpha, but he is open-minded and civil. Oliver and Finn were great contributions to the story. There definitely appears to be many options for continuing it beyond just the 6 books that are here now, and I hope she will keep writing them so I can have more of each character.
I very much enjoyed this book and will definitely be continuing the series. ( )
