Another clever, whimsical, touching, impressive entry in the Uncanny podcast series. ( ) Great issue, as usual. Uncanny is really doing well. My favorite of this issue was "Catcall" by Delilah S. Dawson. It's brutal. Brutal and sad and a bit empowering. If you're a woman, if you grew up a girl, you've been catcalled, harassed, treated as if you were public property, and you need to read this story about fantasy revenge coming true. Five stars for this story. There's some great stuff in here - I'm seriously considering a subscription. "Midnight Hour" by Mary Robinette Kowall is a delightfully creepy story about a couple in the midst of suffering through the price they've paid for the welfare of others (and the guy who thinks he's doing a good thing by destroying that) "Woman at Exhibition" by E. Lily Yu is a powerful short story about the place a woman artist finds herself in, next to her male partner "The Rainbow Flame" by Shveta Thakrar was a little too on-the-nose for me, but damn if it wasn't joyful "Ghost Champagne" by Charlie Jane Anders was hugely engaging, with great characters, a story about getting over yourself and your past "The Half-Life of Angels" by Sarah Monette is a beautiful, slightly disturbing little drabble "Catcall" by Delilah S. Dawson is pure wish-fulfillment for any woman who's ever been catcalled (#yesallwomen) "A Year and a Day in Old Theradine" by Scott Lynch (a reprint) is one of his trademark delightful heist stories. I want more stories with this team. "The Saga of Captain Jens" by C.S.E. Cooney is an adventure ballad that deserves to be set to music "Slices of Failure in Super Science" by Bryan Thao Warra is a brief poem about the failure state of the Singularity "Σειρήνοιϊν" by Sonya Taaffe is a beautiful siren song aucune critique | ajouter une critique
