This book can be read for many different ages as it is a biography about Martin Luther King Jr. As a young boy, he was often clumsy and saw the injustice of racism when his childhood friend was no longer allowed to play with him because of his skin color. The books continues on to discuss the injustice and unfair treatment of people during this time and talks about events of the Civil Rights Movement. Great book for an introduction to Black History Month or the Civil Rights Movement and shows students how strong peaceful protest and our words can be to invoke a change! This book is recommended for intermediate students. This book depicts the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and the different life events that helped shaped his legacy. In my future classroom, I would use this book as a general overview/ introduction into the civil rights movements and King's involvement with it. You are never too young to make a change! Martin Luther King Jr. was just like any other kid-in fact he was quite clumsy and often got injured. He shares some of the ways black people were treated unfair and how it made him feel. Until one day, he knew he had to take stand and put an end to the way black people had to live. He wanted to be treated the same as white people. He had to be brave! He gathered people together to peacefully protest for their rights and have a speech about how he dreamed of a world filled with love and equality. Through the use of a graphic novel, this illustrates the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and the power of words that were used to create change and fight injustices. This book addresses the issues of racism, and details events of the Civil Rights Movement, but shows that through words and peaceful protest, change and love can happen. This book would be great in a classroom library in grades 4th-5th as the illustrations of the graphic novel would be appealing to the readers and help build confidence while educating the reader of the civil rights movement. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
