Another edition in the Molly Murphy Mystery series does not disappoint. This time Molly is off to interact with another famous event / time period in history, with the usually harrowing experiences quickly following. I feel I can disclose NOTHING of the plot, because it would be impossible to do without tripping over spoilers. Still, I feel safe in saying that if you are a fan of this series, this title is a return to the solid story-telling and adventure that characterized the earlier editions. **eARC Netgalley** Under pressure to stay out of the limelight and protect his career, Daniel accepts an assignment from John Wilkie. Unable to confide in Molly the nature of the assignment, Daniel leaves with promises of returning within a month. Trying to make the best of the situation, Sid and Gus offer to keep Molly entertained during Daniel's absence. Sid and Molly attend a function getting to meet Mark Twain. Molly strikes up a conversation with Mrs. Endicott, and the two make plans for tea soon. When Mrs. Endicott comes knocking on Molly's door, she is surprised to have seen her husbands likeness at the moving picture and asks Molly to go with her. Once again, Mrs. Endicott sees her husband, but even more surprising is when Bridie says, "Look, there is Captain Sullivan." Mrs. Endicott begs Molly to go to San Francisco to find her husband, but Molly declines. But, when she receives a strange letter from Daniel, she knows that something is wrong and she must go... aucune critique | ajouter une critique

"Molly Murphy Sullivan's husband Daniel, a police captain in turn-of-the-century New York City, is in a precarious position. The new police commissioner wants him off the force altogether. So when Daniel's offered an assignment from John Wilkie, head of the secret service, he's eager to accept. Molly can't draw any details of the assignment out of him, even where he'll be working. But when she spots him in San Francisco during a movie news segment, she starts to wonder if he's in even more danger than she had first believed. And then she receives a strange and cryptic letter from him, leading her to conclude that he wants her to join him in San Francisco. Molly knows that if Daniel's turning to her rather than John Wilkie or his contacts in the police force, something must have gone terribly wrong. What can she do for him that the police can't? Especially when she doesn't even know what his assignment is? Embarking on a cross-country journey with her young son, Molly can't fathom what's in store for her, but she knows it might be dangerous in fact, it might put all of their lives at risk"-- Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
