The story starts off very rough and disjointed as they "get the band together" through a bunch of random sometimes one-page stories. After that, though (with ASM #9) It picks up and is a fun and interesting read. It helps to have a decent knowledge of JMS's late 90s early 00s run. Especially the storyline "The Other" (in Amazing Spider-Man by JMS Ultimate Collection Book 4) but it's not necessary.

This specific collection did lose some points in my book for really bad collection editing. If the story goes in one particular order, then put the book in that order!!! Don't put a "reading order" list in the front! That's just lazy and frustrating and leads to me having to use 6 bookmarks while constantly flipping back and forth around the book. ( )

This mammoth 600+ page collection pulls together the original Spider-Verse saga plus various spin-off and tie in issues to tell a wide-ranging story that pulls together every conceivable incarnation of Spider-Men and Spider-Women from across the Marvel multiverse, and it works really well. Handling a vast array of characters while keeping the story line focused and engaging. I really enjoyed seeing the different Spiders in action together (I cheered out loud when the Japanese TV Spider-Man and his giant robot turned up) as well as the glimpses into different realities (seeing Miles Morales’ reaction to the 67 cartoon universe was fun). A big plus was being introduced to characters I’d like to discover more about - such as the Victorian era steampunk Lady Spider. If you know your Spidey history there’s a lot of nice gags and references here, but you don’t need that to enjoy the ride. What at first felt like it might be a daunting read turned out to be a fun adventure. ( )

I loved this event. Lately when reading events in other comics, I'm just not happy with the outcome. I enjoyed everything about this book. I love seeing all the different kinds of Spider-man and how they react to each other. I loved the lore of spiders and of the web. I love reading about Spider-woman, silk, spider-gwen, Miles Morales and Superior Spider-man (who I didn't not like his comics), and many more like spider-pig.

The story did not drag and everybody had their part to play. You can read the book in order that it came in, like I did or read online for a spider-verse reading list, if you like to read it in a better flowing manner. How I read it was fine, but I think reading it in a certain order might have made the experience better.

This book is fantastic and I would recommend it to anybody, especially those who loves the Spider world. ( )

I read this in the individual issues over at Marvel Unlimited. It was a really engrossing and fun storyline to read and utterly crazypants. I loved seeing all the different iterations of Spider-men out there in the multi-verse, including some old friends I had vaguely remembered from back in the day (hi, Mayday!).

So giant mega-crossover event with a giant body count to go along with it. Many of those familiar characters got axed out of existence in this event, which was gut-wrenching. So A+ on the feels department. And despite me coming into the storyline fairly cold, I was able to follow along with very little difficulty.

But. The entire time I was reading this monster of a storyline, a little nagging voice in the back of my head kept asking, "If the Inheritors' food are the Spider totems, why was the family so gung ho about wiping all Spiders out of existence?" Sense making, it was not.

Also, the ending was a bit too deus ex machina for my liking. It was timey whimey but in such an utterly conveniently way that I rolled my eyes a bit. ( )

A family of immortal creatures are hunting down and killing Spider-Man (and Spider-Woman and Spider-Ham and... you get the idea) across the multiverse. As several of the Spider-Men unite and realize what is happening they begin to recruit Spider-people everywhere in an effort to save themselves and the larger universe.

Ambitious with some fascinating side stories, I have to admit that I found the central story arc for this one a little underwhelming (but that might be the side result of having seen Into the Spiderverse first which is so tightly crafted). It also could be slightly the fault of how this collected volume is set up with the first half of this chunky book focused on the main Spider-Verse plot line, while the various side plot lines that weave in and out are all collected in the second half. I definitely found the side-plots more interesting as this was where we got to explore characters and their familiar but new origins. I particularly enjoyed the Steampunk-ish Lady Spider, Silk, and Spider-UK who came for interesting worlds of their own. An interesting read if you're a hard-core Spider-Man fan but not a must-read for me as I mostly picked it up for Spider-Gwen back story (of which there is very little). ( )
