And when I got a BookBub email that one of her books was on sale FOR FREE, I snapped it up in about 0.2 seconds flat. But here's a thing that I learned in the process of reading this book: even when it's one of your favorite authors, it always pays to check the Goodreads genres before diving in. If I'd done that, instead of just trying to finish buying this book ASAP before my boss caught me shopping at work, I would have seen the big, glaring "MENAGE" listed amongst the genres. And I probably would have passed. And that might have been a mistake, because I did end up more or less enjoying this book. But my delicate sensibilities were a little shaken when our otherwise calm, cautious, and tame MC propositions two guys she's just met. (Don't worry, I survived.) I loved the general plot of the story, which begins as Lynn's boyfriend Phil struggles to plan a date with her. Since he can't even name her favorite color, favorite food, or favorite flower, he ends up hiring the DreamMakers, a company founded by ex-Rangers Parker, Dean, and Jack. These guys specialize in creating fantastic experiences for their clients, and in the process of doing a little recon (since Phil knows literally nothing about Lynn), Parker falls fard. He obviously can't date a client, but luckily for him, Lynn quickly realizes what a philanderer Phil is and kicks him to the curb. The first 50%, or maybe even 70% was good. Despite my initial misgivings, the threesomes actually didn't bother me. But then we get the most ridiculous, over-the-top drama. Here I was thinking that the drama would be Lynn finding out that Parker was hired by her jerk of an ex. No, the drama is outrageous. It completely took away from the rest of the book, and I was left feeling confused and cranky. I don't need my romance characters to become action heroes, okay? This really clouded my opinion of the book. Overall, this book was just okay for me. It certainly wasn't the worst book I've read so far this year, but it's not up at the top of my list, either. I'm not ruling out the possibility of reading the next two books in the series, but I'm also not immediately hopping over to the Kindle store to buy them. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
