Hilarious, and I'm not just saying that because the male lead's first name is spelled the same as mine. ( )

I waited and splurged for this bumper edition and it was totally worth it. Best new series I have read in a long time. Funny, sexy and bonkers. ( )

Pros:
1. Neat concept. What if, for some people, the "little death" was more like a "little time-freezing"?
2. A pretty well-rounded male love interest. He's cute but not a Greek god, he's bright but not a genius, he's sweet but sometimes a jerk, well-intentioned but has some obvious and some not-so-obvious issues.
3. Lots of jokes and puns, especially hidden in the artwork. Very fun.

Cons:
1. The female protagonist just isn't as *interesting* as her love interest. She's not quite a Mary Sue, but I felt like I could tell that the authors weren't as sure-footed about drawing a complex female character. The inner monologue of women doesn't seem to be something in their wheelhouse.
2. I don't really "get" the villains, the self-appointed sex police. If your overriding concern is making sure that people like you don't use their powers for ill (because you want your powers to remain secret), then ... wouldn't you use your finding-power-people technology to track them down and explain your position, and get them to agree on a code of conduct or something? Isn't that part of the lesson of Charles Xavier? Having them wander around experimenting with their powers for years before you show up seems counter-productive. Yeah, I just don't understand their motives, I think. ( )

I love the artwork and the story IS interesting, but on this second read the way the story is told threw me off even more than the first time. The beginning where Suzie is telling her story, it's tricky to follow where and when we are...and in some cases what she's even trying to explain.

Or maybe it's because I read before bed and I was just tired. Who. Knows. ( )

Funny, engrossing, sexy and occasionally quite deep, and did I mention funny! ( )
