The story opens with Rowan on the expensive leg of transporting horses. The part wherein they don't have anyone to pay the costs, since they aren't transporting a horse. But she won a bid to transport a horse back to the West Coast from South Carolina. Unfortunately she also just lost her co-driver to jail. So, she's going to have to turn down the job she just got.
Rowan decides to make a face-to-face explanation of her need to refuse the job. Finds Chase next to a rusted old beaten up truck and a very pregnant horse. One thing leads to another, and they agree on having Chase be the co-driver.
Then they go on a road-trip. To California. With horsie and a dog named Merle. Along the way the attraction between the women heats up. When Rowan closes her eyes and imagines her perfect woman, Chase pretty much appears in her mind's eye. The thought wasn't expressed exactly the same way, but the short woman appears to be Chase's "type" as well.
So, good solid story. Told from two point of views, Chase's and Rowan's. There's at least one scene wherein they are describing driving along, feeling the summer breeze and it all suddenly clicked for me. I felt it. Like was there. Of course I have been in the general vicinity in that part of the story, so I did have something internal to draw on. Made everything feel even realer. Also the sex scene was good. Which isn't something I pay much attention to normally. ( )
