What a waste of time. ( )

Not intense, but pretty good. It's mostly hopping around between universes and alternate versions of characters, which I'm getting really tired of, but it was mostly just fun and pretty light. ( )

Jeph Loeb has written some fine stories. This isn't one of them. As far as I can figure the plot, the Superman and Batman of an alternate universe follow Lois Lane's killer to his own universe, where he is a member of a super-hero team, and kill him. The rest of the team track down Superman and Batman to eke out justice, only it's "our" Superman and Batman, who have no idea what's going on. From here the plot devolves into a complicated mess that involves Bizarro, "Batzarro" (God help me), Darkseid, a wide range of alternate Supermen, Batmen, Supergirls and Superboys, Mr. Mxyzptlk and the Joker. The story seems to follow from events I've missed, but I doubt that having read them would help much. This was just a mess of a story, relieved by decent artwork and occasional interesting interplay between the two main heroes. ( )

The third volume wasn't so great, and neither was this one. The first two volumes of the Superman/Batman crossover had such promise, that it is sad to see the next two not live up to expectations. ( )
