Mama Seeton could call her kids home, no matter where they where, just by her whistle. Whistle meant it was dinner time and then some chocolate cake to follow afterwards. Mama Seeton used her whistle every day from the time she had one son, till she had 4 kids. Once Mama Seeton's kids grew up and moved on to their own adventures, Mama missed her kids dearly and wished they were home with her for dinner each night. One day Mama gave her whistle a shot, and the next day all of her kids were back with her enjoying chocolate cake. When reading this book you can't help but smile. Everyone has a mama, and Mama Seeton's relationship with her kids reminds us of our own relationships with our mothers in some way. I would love to read this book to a class of students, and see what stories they have about their own mothers. I am going to be a mother myself one day, and I would love to be just like Mama Seeton. ( ) A lovely, warm story about family, love and always being able to come home. Plus I'm such a fan of LeUyen Pham's expressive illustrations of people. On picking this up, I do admit I thought, oh, yet another children's story about an All-American, white traditional family. But the closing spreads bring "both new and old" together in a satisfying ending. Just right for a read-aloud. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
