Princesses Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Rapunzel swap fairy tales with one another.

This is such a clever and enchanting book about four princesses who are tired of being in their own fairy tale. Snow White, Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty are all sick of their reality, and try to switch lives to run away from their problems. I love how the author has a moral behind the story but delivers it in such a light and humorous manner. Although the audience is aimed towards young girls, I believe this story resonates with women of all ages. In today's world where it's so easy to compare yourself and your life with others, I easily relate with this story. It's one that proves the grass isn't always greener on the other side, and we create our own fairy tale. ( )

Sleeping Cinderella and Other Princess Mix-ups, is an adorable fractured fairy tail. The four princess, Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Sleeping beauty all switch lives. Each girl is frustrated with her own life and longs for something else. The simple solution is to just switch stories...or so you think. The princesses are still unhappy with their new lives. They all long for something more. In the end they return to their own lives, but make changes. I really enjoyed that the story ended with the girls changing their own lives and not waiting on fate or a fairy god mother to show up. My daughter really enjoyed the rhyming text. ( )

This princess mix up book was so cool. It started with Snow White, she was tired of cleaning after the dwarfs so she went to Repunzels castle where she could rest and be alone. Repunzel was tired of being alone so went to meet Cinderella and go to the ball for her. Cinderella was too tired of cleaning after her wicked step family, she didn't want to go to the ball, she wanted to rest, so she went to Sleeping Beauty's place, where she could sleep. Sleeping beauty was tired of sleeping and being alone so she went to Snow Whites and hung out with the dwarfs. But then the witches and the wicked step sisters ruined their night, and Sleeping Beauty's prince came too soon, kissing Cinderella and waking her up from her rest. So they all went back to their own place and made up their own fairy tale ending. This was the coolest plot twist ever. ( )

Four famous princesses - Snow White, Rapunzel, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty - each find that they have grown tired of their 'everyday' lives in this fractured fairy-tale told in rhyme. Switching places in an amusing round-robin, each princess hopes to find what she has been missing: Snow White wants some peace and quiet in Rapunzel's tower, Rapunzel wants a night out at Cinderella's ball, Cinderella wants to rest in Sleeping Beauty's bed after doing all of her chores, and Sleeping Beauty hopes to find more activity in Snow White's dwarf-home. But is the grass always greener on the other side, or will these fairy-tale heroines discover that they should have stayed put...?

As it turns out, a bit of both. Although each princess in Sleeping Cinderella and Other Princess Mix-Ups eventually returns to her original environs, they are each inspired to make some changes, highlighting the fact that sometimes we need to remove ourselves from a stressful situation, in order to come up with a solution to what troubles us. Young fairy-tale lovers will enjoy this 'mix-up,' in which four well-known characters temporarily escape from their own stories into someone else's, while those unfamiliar with the specific tales being referenced - sadly, there are such children - will enjoy the rhyming text and general story presented here. The artwork by Brigette Barrager, who also worked on Uni the Unicorn, is colorful and appealing, with plenty of humorous flourishes - Snow White being smothered by Rapunzel's witch for instance - to keep young reader/listeners entertained. Recommended to anyone who likes fractured fairy-tale retellings and/or more meta-fictional picture-books. ( )
