Ok this series is amazing. Adelina is different than any other main character I have read about. I am constantly on the edge of my seat to see how her character will develop next with each new event and connection. Her past is always haunting her and it is interesting how that works in with her powers. I am always rooting for her...yet, I think sometimes she can't differentiate between what she actually wants and what she thinks she wants. Again, the way her character is so meshed with her power for illusion is beautiful. The writing of emotions and the character development is as beautiful as the first one and I can't wait to read the next one. ( )

I've got that Tumbleweeds song running through my head: "It feels so good to evil. It feels so good to be bad! The most agreeable feeling I've ever had. Oh I never feel the least bit guilty. Even though I recon I 'spose I should. Instead I'm rotten right to the core and it feels so good."

Read it. ( )

The darkest YA I've ever read? Maybe. But damn, this series is good. Adelina, Teren--these characters aren't likable, but they are real--Adelina so twisted by pain and betrayal you're rooting for her success until you stop and realize what you're hoping for. I empathized deeply with her even while I knew she was throwing herself down this path.

The pieces are set for a hell of an ending to this trilogy, with Adelina's final position, Teren's condition, Raffaele's discovery, Enzo's.....Enzo. As soon as I hit done on this I'm off to look for book 3 information. ( )
