( ) Just started and I already feel this will be my least favorite among Patterson & Co series. I have trouble liking Michael Bennett because the way he "talks". The story is exciting and as other of his books, short chapters, easy and fast to read. Because the story is based in NYC similar to NYPD RED, I feel I have to compare and I prefer RED to this series. I originally saw this book awhile ago, and after seeing it was the 8th in the Michael Bennett series I went and found the other 7 to read first, and I am glad I did as the prior books do provide quite a bit of depth to the character as well as those of the support characters, especially Emily Parker & Mary Catherine. In this installment there's quite a bit more action with what would appear to be terrorists targeting New York City, initially with a huge bombing, then an assassination and from there it only gets worse. All the while Bennett is reliant on a new nanny to help as Mary Catherine is overseas dealing with her mothers affairs and Seamus has a health scare that leaves him unable to be the front running care provider as he had been in the past. I would have liked to have seen more time spent on the aftermath of the third attack however that in itself could have been an entire book so I can see why it was mostly glazed over to concentrate on the primary plot. I would say it was the best book in the series so far, you could read it stand alone but there's definitely some benefit to reading the prior books. Once again we meet up with Michael Bennett, his grandfather Father Seamus and his 10 children. MaryCatherine, his nanny and love interest, is off in Ireland trying to sell her mother's hotel, restaurant and golf course. Once again New York is under attack. Michael teams up with Emily Parker from the FBI to track down and capture the culprits. With New York under attack, the Bennett family with the University nanny filling in for MaryCatherine and Seamus try to flee the city while their father continues to hunt. Another suspenseful read. I would recommend that you go back to the beginning of this series if you have not read them as they are all excellent stories. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
