It is an informational book with facts about George Washington beginning to end. It has easy sentences with lots of pictures which makes it an easier book to read for children. Great for children that are learning to read. I would say that this book is great for pre-k to 3rd grade. It comes with good vocabulary and few jokes. ( ) Well written overall with a good balance of text and images, and short definitions or explanations on each page, to help with comprehension. There is a variety of images, ranging from official portraits to photographs i.e. Mount Vernon. Two passages caught my attention; the first, where the word "plantation" is defined and slavery is not mentioned at all, and the second, when he is said to have gotten sick "with a bad sore throat" and because of a lack of medicine, he died. I can sort of understand not including a reference to slavery but it could still be done for children this young. However, I think the passage about having a sore throat and then dying from it could cause alarm in young children. Overall, this is a solid book and part of a great series for children. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
