It features Nikolo a Sentinel and Angela. The set up is interesting. I’m not found of the quick hook up’s. The couple featured have only known each other for a few weeks, they are thrown together, with not much dating happening; before they hook up. I wasn’t fully feeling the connection between these two even though you can clearly see the desires and sexual tensions. Out of Control gives us heartache, betrayal, and surprises. It had plenty of action, humor, and lust. This novella was enjoyable! Rated: 3 Stars *Book source ~ NetGalley Angela Locke is a Ph.D student and Nikolo Bartrev is a consulting professor. Or so she’s told. For six weeks she’s drooled over him as he visits her lab daily. When she finds out he’s actually a high-blood, a Sentinel or, the not-so-nice term, freak and he’s been using her as bait, well…to put it mildly, she’s not pleased. But neither is Niko. Never, in all his time as a hunter, has he let himself get distracted by anything. Not even a woman. But Angela is different and not just because she’s also a high-blood (which she refuses to believe), but because he wants her. Badly. But has he screwed it all up by keeping secrets from her? Only time will tell. I love this story and the fact that it’s the start of a new series delights me. Paranormal, humor, steaminess and danger combined with a wonderful new supernatural world living side-by-side with the norms and delicious characters. I can’t wait for more stories in this series. This story is fairly short, but it’s enough to whet the appetite for more, more, more. This was a nice little novella to tide me over til the next book in the series comes out. Niko was a Hunter Sentinel after a rouge Sentinel that has targeted a genetic scientist for reasons I won't get into else I'll spoil it. That scientist is Angela, who is a bit awkward around most people, but has a raging crush on Niko. It takes a bit, but when the two come together it rocks both of them. I enjoyed this novella and definitely wouldn't have minded if it was longer, but it quenched my need for a new book in this series. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

The Story:
A good introductory tale to a series. I have issues with the connotation and number of times the word “freak” was used but I did listen with my 2023 ears when this was written in 2014. I’m not sure I will continue the series because I’m sure that kind of language will continue, and it really did hit me hard.
