Author's note, sources, and delicious endpapers including a recipe! In Gingerbread for Liberty, Mara Rockliff tells the story of Christopher Ludwich and his role during the American Revolution. Just like all of the Mara Rockliff books I have read I felt as if the book was well-researched. She takes Ludwich story and transforms it into a story that not only can children can understand, but it also became a pleasure to read. She introduces him as a baker who makes the best gingerbread cookies in all the thirteen colonies. She has a wonderful of using words such as "But now something was in the air beside the smell of baking gingerbread." She adds humor when the baker's wife calls him too old and fat to fight in the revolution. Ludwick finds a way to help by aking fro the army. Rockliff books are always a pleasure to read and she always writes about a concept or person that it's usually written about. She provides a lengthy author's note at the end and a list of sources she used. this shows the reader she has done her research and gives the reader a starting point if they want to learn more. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
