After a high school social life spent anonymous and alone, things are finally falling into place for him. At first I was thinking I wouldn't last with this because I've heard Alexander Cendese narrate so often lately that this novel wouldn't find its own personality. But as the book revealed itself, he was perfect for it. He went to town on these two college "boys" who had hearts of gold but just wanted to fit in.

Unnderneath the iron grip of needing to fit in at Browerton University, they found ways to let their spirits burst from their bodies - it was inspiring. And exhausting!

Greg Sanderson and Ethan Follet are characters I won't forget - they seem at first like polar opposites, even damaging to each other, partly because of the ways they've each found to fit in were miles apart.

This allows for the transmogrification! - as each finds acceptance/friendship - and falls in love - they emerge from the chrysalis and become who they were meant to be - Ethan wild and free, Greg caring and thoughtful. Who couldn't fall for a romance like that!

Just when I wondered who to read next I come across yet another discovery, A J Truman. It's the first I've heard of her, on the romance genre journey I've been on for the past 3 years. Quite incredible what a field of plenty it is.

Epilogue: I didn't go for the epilogue – after spending this time with the characters as they worked themselves out, it was ridiculous that so much was crammed into a few jarring paragraphs – stuff that should have been revealed deliciously, tenderly in another book. ( )

This was such a fun read. It brought me back to my college days and the incessant desire to fit in that we all had. I enjoyed most of the characters and the way that if you rolled them all together there was one normal? person. I understood Jessica once I learned about her family but still hope that she loosened up. Preston was an asshat. ( )

This is a fun, single-viewpoint m/m romance with a HFN/potential HEA and a very good character arc. Well, two really, but we only see inner thoughts of our POV fella. The supporting characters are great, and I'm amazed this is only 99 cents on amazon.

My only complaint, which may be irrelevant to other readers, is how Ethan thinks about how he's behaving in the epilogue. For me, it was a little creepy, it left out his basic sweetness. For me, that shifted their end to a happy-for-now, rather than a happily-ever-after. ( )

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed reading this book. I had read the first book before this one, but there was no real connection between them other than the University so I didn't feel any loss at reading that book before this one. This book mainly revolved around Ethan rather than Greg.

Ethan was a quiet, non-partying college kid who never really stepped out of his comfort zone. He met Greg in one of his classes where he was trying to be the star student. It didn't work out that well, but Greg and Ethan eventually became friends with benefits (that eventually would lead to more). Greg was in the closet for a number of reasons, and Ethan struggled with his feelings for Greg and not wanting to hide.

The story moved at a pretty good pace. While it was long, we got a good glimpse into the growing relationship and feelings between the guys. I got to understand a lot of why Ethan felt the way he did. I do wish I got a bit more insight into Greg's feelings and actions, but we did get to learn a bit as the book started winding down and Greg actually became more open with Ethan.

I would really love to get more about these guys as time moves forward. I feel pretty confident about them being together, but I would love to see where they go after college. What job did Greg end up going after? Where did Ethan end up working? Were they able to follow their dreams together? I would really love more-maybe a short follow up story?? :-) ( )

This is a tough one to review: the story is pretty solid and interesting, but the writing is a little weak. Early on it was difficult to tell authorial intent from poor writing, which made the author's characterization a little fuzzy. That cleared up in the last third of the book, when threads started tying together, but coupled with other random typos and errors, I think the author could use a editor.

That being said, though, this is worth a few hours of your time. It's a fun, sweet story, light on the angst, with a bit of an edge. You could do worse. ( )
