Young woman whose parents were murdered by Communist agents is recruited to join a super secret British spy agency after she confronts a would-be killer in her apartment. This book has some very good scenes, particularly the two when the heroine is in the most danger, and it presents some fairly well-drawn characterizations. The villains are the Chinese - but they work behind the scenes through Westerners who do most of their dirty work. Their purpose is to assassinate a few well-placed persons in the U.S., Britain, and Russia to create a nuclear war that leaves the Chinese free to spread their "true" variety of communism throughout the world after their two biggest obstacles wipe each other out. Far-fetched to be sure, but Eastwood writes quite well and clearly, though without any identifiable style. Everything is woven together pretty well until the conclusion, which is far too abrupt. Almost as if he were running out of his page limit and had to finish the book! Nevertheless, I would recommend this books to anyone interested in sensational cold war spy thrillers, and I would definitely pick up another book by Eastwood featuring the resourceful Anna Zordan.
