I think this book would be great for primary grade level. This book is a story within a story, where Mouse is creating doodles to write a story. Frog jumps in and wants to help Mouse write his story, however Frog helping turns into a creative, bombarding experience. Mouse gets frustrated, and finally the two figure out how to doodle and tell the story together. This focuses in on two friends compromising on creative ideas and art, and finally creating a awesome story on their own that has a little bit of all their ideas. I think this would be a great read aloud, or silent reading book to really enforce positive ideas of problem solving with peers! ( )

A mouse is trying to sit down and write a story. Meanwhile his friend frog is excited and wants to help mouse write his story. But mouse wants to write a calm story that comes from his thoughts. Mouse reads his story out loud while he is writing the story and frog interrupts continually and wants to change the story to what he wants. Finally Frog has changed the story entirely and Mouse says enough. Mouse knows that he cannot continue so he does the right thing and changes the story. Mouse decides its a story about Frog and Mouse. The story becomes much easier to write now that Frog and Mouse both have the same idea for the story. A story about the two of them going outside to play on an adventure! A story about friendship and how we may not always agree but we can always try to find common ground. For the classroom I would read the story aloud to the students. Then I would have them think of situation when the student and a friend had very different ideas. Using a graphic organizer get one problem that can be solved by the whole classroom and have them come up with a solution. Students will be copying what the teacher writes for older students. ( )

by Mouse & Frog tells the story of Mouse who is trying to write his own story, but is interrupted by Frog who gets carried away and takes over Mouses' story. Mouse is overwhelmed by Frogs enthusiasm and makes him start the story all over again. Frog was not amused by Mouses' new story and realizes that they both can make a story together without getting carried away. Together they create a beautiful world they both can enjoy. The theme of the book is teamwork. In the classroom, this book can inspire an activity that requires learners to work in pairs to create their own story together. Maybe one learner will take on the role of the illustrator and the other the author, or they choose to work as a team and do both together like Mouse & Frog.

This is about a mouse and frog. The mouse is telling a story but the frog interupts and takes over. Eventually mouse explains this and they make a story together.

This very realistic story plays out with Frog and Mouse and not knowing how to convey their feelings. I found this story very well written and would fit well within a classroom where emotions are consistently changing. ( )
