It will begin in 1841, in the town of Montgomery Village, Maryland, and end out West in Oregon in 1874. It will show that the 'tender flame' that began in the hearts of two people, never went out, even after being apart most of those 30 years. Grant Smith and Lydia Reynolds have a love that will withstand the test of time. They were engaged and ready to marry when Grant was sent to fight in the Mexican-American War, where he was eventually reported as killed (but he survived and became a prisoner of war). Without ruining the whole story for you, I will just say that time passes and life goes on for both people, but in the end that tender flame will have time to grow in the life of these two people once again. I loved how the author centered this story around Psalm 18:30, "As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him". This will prove true many times in this story. His way really is perfect, even though at times there is heartache and sorrow. These are really good stories in this series. They have all been stand alone stories, so you could read them in any order (at least so far, I have only read the first 3 stories, but plan to continue to read the rest). The author does a great job of placing you in that time period and keeping you informed of what was going on in history during that time. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
