Self-Improvement. African American Nonfiction. Nonfiction. HTML:

In his phenomenal #1 New York Times bestseller Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, Steve Harvey told women what it takes to succeed in love. Now, he tells everyone how to succeed in life, giving you the keys to fulfill your purpose.

Countless books on success tell you what you need to get that you don't already possess. In Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success, Steve Harvey tells you how to achieve your dreams using the gift you already have. Every one of us was born with a gift endowed by our creatorâ??something you do the best at with very little effort. While it can be like someone else's, your gift is yours alone. No one can take it away. You are the only one who can use itâ??or waste it.

Steve shows how that gift holds your greatest chance at success, and the fulfillment of your life's mission and purpose. He helps you learn to define your giftâ??whether it's being a problem solver, a people-connector, a whiz with numbers, or having an eye for colors. He makes clear that your job is not your gift; you may use it in your work, but it can also be used in your marriage or relationship, your community, and throughout every aspect of your life. Throughout, he provides a set of principles that will help you direct your gift. "The scriptures say your gift will make room for you and put you in the presence of great men," Steve reminds us. This book is your roadmap to identifying your gift, acknowledging it, perfecting it, connecting it to a vehicle, and riding it to success. Because Success is the gift you already have."

Funny yet firm, told in Steve's warm and insightful voice, and peppered with anecdotes from his own life, practical advice, and truthful insights, this essential guide can help you transform your life and achieve everything you were born… (plus d'informations)

I am a huge Steve Harvey fan. I love to watch his show and read his books. This book was good and inspirational, but I had hoped it would be a little bit longer. I like his personality. He is a very genuine, hard working man. ( )

This audio book was OK. Like so many audio books it could be improved by having the author read it. That is almost always better, and particularly when the author is someone who is known outside the literary world, like Steve Harvey, it just doesn't seem right with some other random black guy reading it. Also like many non-fiction audio books I recommend that if you are interested, get the dead tree version. Not only does it make referencing later easier he has many "write this" exercises throughout here that are difficult in audio format. Granted they really tried by including an enhanced PDF version of these portions on disk for of the Book-on-CD, but even after printing the 29 pages out, I don't feel it is a substitute.

As far as the quality of the work itself, it mostly feels like regurgitated standard self-help malarkey with a few personal stories thrown in for color. I'm not sure what to make of that. I'm not sure if that's because this self-help stuff is all BS that is too difficult to follow up with so everyone can say do it and no one can prove it doesn't work; however it could also be that this stuff really does work and that's why everyone says it. Maybe Harvey's words will be enough to let me follow through and see. We'll have to wait and find out.

There was a lot more Jesus in this book than I expected. I appreciated that, others might not. ( )

Cannot remember when it was the last time I was so touched by a book. Steve Harvey really knows how to deliver his lines to make them more influential, more powerful, and more meaningful than they initially appear. That's something that I am striving at, and thus appreciate this book a whole lot more. What Mr. Harvey does in this book is that he shares the formula and secret of his success in his own way and thus explains how he's managed to completely turn his life around and eventually raise himself from being jobless and homeless to a well-respected, inspirational, world-wide known television host. This book truly is amazing because I am sure Mr. Harvey gave his best of himself as he was writing it. My only complaint is that it's too short, because the world deserves to read more of this man's wisdom and of this man's knowledge, for it's clear that this man was not an overnight success, but he actually had to work jobs he hated for a very long time, had top endure failure and criticism as he stared out as a comedian, and was even booed of the stage after embarrassing performance. So, let me just end this review by saying; if you've heard of this man, have seen one of his shows, then you already know who's the man I am talking about. If you haven't heard of this man, have never seen one of his shows, then you probably don't know a lot about him, but you are missing out on a lot, a lot of wisdom and a lot of knowledge, and a lot of knowledge he offers as a gift to the people in the audience, to the viewers in front of their television sets, and of course to the world. It took me a little while to read it because I kept having to stop...I would lose focus on just listening to the audio, so I had to pick up the physical book & follow along to help me focus

The book was good, and worth reading, especially for those that may be trying to push forward in their lives. For many, this book may be common sense and they've already been told all of this, but sometimes, a refresher is a great thing...For others, all of this may not be so common sense for this because they may not have had that mentor(s) in their life to teach them the things they needed to know in the areas he is speaking of in this book.

Just like his previous two books on relationships...For many, it was common sense and many already knew, mostly because they figured it out over time, had help from males in their lives (fathers, uncles, brothers, friends, etc) and/or it may not have fit their lives because the type of men he talked about, weren't the ones some were dealing with. Well, this book is the same way. Go into it expecting to at minimum, get some refreshers...and if you get more out of it great...if not, then, well, I don't know what to tell you! lol...

For me personally, I got a little out of each chapter...some things I already knew, but need to buckle down and apply to my life, so it was more of a motivation and a kick in the pants to get it together! The thing I loved the most, was chapter 15 when he talked about the different types of haters...That right there was worth buying the book alone! And at the end of some of the chapters, there is space to answer questions/statements about what you need/want to do in that particular area in your life in order to move forward...That's another reason to buy the book (for me). I'm one that can pretty much take this book for what it is in my life...I refresher that is kicking me in my pants...I wont let my pride get in the way and think: Oh, I know all of this already...he isnt saying anything new for me...well, maybe not...but that doesn't mean I can't take out of it what I need to take out of it and hold on to it and use it...Overall, the book was worth reading... :-) ( )
