BooksInMirror | Feb 19, 2024 |  I have been reading Jonathan Kellerman since the 1980's and have never read a book of his I did not like. From the moment of opening the cover, I was propelled forward into the vehicle of his stories, and good writing. Psychiatrist Alex Delaware has usually been the main protagonist, along with his Detective friend Milo Sturgis in a majority of the thirty or so "cases" they worked on together. Although there was a bit of a pattern to the way the plot worked, I was not bored, and could rarely guess what was coming. Also, [a: Jonathan Kellerman|43626|Jonathan Kellerman|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1320951950p2/43626.jpg] is excellent at maintaining sub-plots which have also successfully spanned the years. The past few years have deluged the book markets with new authors and e-books, so I think I have missed a couple of the most recent books by Jonathan Kellerman, so I cannot truthfully say if the point of view in [title: The Murderer's Daughter] is brand new, but WOW! Talk about a book hangover, I finished this book three days ago, am reading three other books, have finished one other and I cannot stop thinking about Dr. Grace Blades, or "Grace;" the main protagonist. Her life beginnings did not bode well. If she had sought any type of emotional connection to her self-involved parents, she would have been doomed. She was an old child, and hurdles the impossible to make it to majority. She luckily meets some caring individuals along the way that provide some nurturing - and help her gain invaluable tools for adulthood. Content: There is violence, but done in such a way that those who wish can self-censor over the worst, but not bloody, chopping, chain-saw type violence. The reader may find themselves rooting for some of the homicide. Sex: There is sex, again it is done in such a way that one does not have to continually pull out the anti-bacterial wipes. (  ) ourBooksLuvUs | Aug 20, 2023 |  ) MerrylT | May 18, 2023 |  ) amcheri | Jan 5, 2023 | One point I'd like to make is that the way the flashbacks of Grace's childhood are intertwined with her present-day reality makes the book so much more interesting to read, especially since the real action of the book takes place in what seems like less than a week. From the start, we find out that her life is basically littered with murders and death at very key points and so when it's time for her to kill, it's not that out of place for someone like her to flip the switch to make the quick decision to kill or be killed. 10/10 would recommend.
