I was so close to putting it down and saying I'm done, but I only had about 90 pages left so I pushed myself to finish. What really bugged me most about this book/series (I mentioned this when I read the first book) is that it's too much like our world. This is supposed to be a MERMAID book/series, yet it resembles our world so much that if it weren't for the cover of the book, you could sometimes forget it takes place in the ocean. Some things that are in this book that are too similar to our world (and what the heck are they even doing in an underwater world anyway) are: streets, tents, glasses, cars and bikes (no joke, in one scene they found a whole bunch of treasure and among the treasure they find are a couple of cars and bicycles. WTH?), clothes, jewelry, TEA! (Again no joke, in one scene they're sitting there drinking tea! How do you drink tea when you live in the ocean? That would be some seriously salty and probably really gross tea.) All of this frustrated me so much. If I'm reading a book about mermaids I want it to feel like they actually live in the ocean NOT our world. I think the only thing they were missing was cable TV, though I haven't read the 3rd book (and definitely don't plan to) so maybe it's included in that one. Also, even though this book is considered YA, it reads more like a middle-grade series just to warn you. So with all these cons why did I still rate it a 2 stars? Well I did finish the book and usually (though not always) the books I rate 1 stars are the ones I can't even get through to finish. Plus the ending actually wasn't bad, predictable yes, but not bad and even though it kind of leaves you with a cliffhanger ending I have no interest in picking up the 3rd book, even though I own it. ( ) This is a fast-paced sequel to Deep Blue, and it really strengthens the suspense and intrigue of the world without most of the hokey mermaid jokes that plagued the first book. There are a lot of twists and turns, so there are several plot twists you don't expect, especially at the end. I'm super mad that I have to wait another year most likely for Book 3. Serafina and Neela go out on the journey to find the talismans while the others search for the other talismans in their Realms. Serafina travels to Miromara where she sees her city in ruins. Serafina goes to a library to search for the conches about the talismans. She finds out that hers is a shipwreck of a old Spanish queen. Neela travels back to her realm. Her parents lock her in her room because they think she's crazy. Neela's talisman is guarded by fearsome razor mouth dragons. Serafina's talisman is guarded by a shipwreck ghost and you have to bring them to the shore far enough so they can escape. The other four girls are still looking for their talismans. Rogue Wave by Jennifer Donnelly is a really good book. You feel like you are in the story in real life. Jennifer Donnelly describes everything in detail. Rogue Wave is the second book of the Epic Saga series. It all begin with Deep Blue. The book is about Mermaids so I recommend this book to teens who like a fantasy story. This book got 5 stars because it is a really good series worth reading. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
