Tydall not only wrote an exciting action and love filled story, but a story in which God and His true love are really the center. God is not just thrown in here and there as in some "christian" romances. I will be reading more of her books. ( ) I thoroughly enjoyed 'The Redemption'! The story centers around Lady Charlisse Bristol who is fleeing a cruel uncle. She boards a ship and sets out to find her father. A storm hits and sinks the ship but she somehow manages to drift to a deserted island. There she is slowly withering away. Then after weeks of combating the elements a band of pirates show up. The Captain, Emund Merrick is very handsome and seems to be a gentleman, although he does have a certain gleam in his eye. He is a reformed pirate who knows the Lord but still struggles with the flesh. He cares for her and takes her aboard to sail with them. He tells her he will help her to find her father. That is until he finds out that her father is Edward the Terror, the cruelest pirate on the Caribbean. He is very torn as he has feelings for Charlisse but also wants to bring her father to justice for the cruel things he has done. Can Charlisse learn to trust Captain Merrick? What will happen when they find her father? What an exciting story. You fall in love with Edmund Merrick and admire Charlisse's spirit. The secondary characters are also very lovable. Except First Mate Kent, whom you love to hate. This story has it all, Romance, adventure, suspense and faith. You won't be disappointed. A young woman on her way to Jamaica to find her father is marooned on a deserted island when her ship sinks. She manages to survive until a ship happens by--but is dismayed to learn it is a pirate ship. The captain is a man recently converted to following the Lord, however, so things may not be as desperate for her as they seem. I enjoyed this tale of adventure and pirates, if unrealistic at times it made for a good yarn. There is a strong romantic element of course. The heroine stood her own and despite making some foolish choices was easy to like. This made for a good escape read. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
