This was a lovely book to read. I think it could be incredibly inspirational and tangible for young readers. This story tells about a young boy named Carl who attends a fair one day. At the fair, he see's an exhibit about stars and becomes fascinated by stars and the solar system. Sisson shows Carl as he gets older and becomes a scientist, and eventually participates in launching a space craft. I was really drawn to this book because of the illustrations and the narrative. However, I think it could be used as a great introduction into a lesson or unit about the stars, to inspire students and get them thinking. There could also be a discussion about the different fields of science. ( )

This book focused on how Carl Sagan was interested in stars as a kid so he did research and grew up and got his doctorate. He ended up launching a spacecraft out. One thing that I do not love about this book is that it is about a white men, not that we should not represent white men in our classroom but especially in science we need to represent women and people of color. I did like that it showed how if a kid is interested in something they can do research about it. They can learn about big things at a young age. The illustrations are very cute. In my classroom I could use this book before starting a space/stars unit. ( )

This biography tell about the life of Carl Sagan and how he became fascinated with space, stars, and planets. This book explains outer space the most simplest way for young readers. It tells about how when Carl was a young boy he went to the world fair in Chicago and became curious about things you can only see endnote touch, which is stars. He carried this curiosity with him and became a scientist in astrophysics and helped scientist build this machine. This book discuss galaxies, suns, stars, planets, and so much more about space I think young readers would love this book. ( )

Story of Carl Sagan as a child, and his budding fascination with the world, space, and beyond. Great illustrations! Word of warning, be prepared to explain what the author means when she says that everything is made of "star stuff,"(oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, etc.) ( )
