Beginning with a blurry account of a cold-blooded shooting of a couple, singled out while having dinner at an Officer's Club, the prime suspect is apprehended hours later while apparently attempting to flee the state. With over a dozen eye-witnesses collaborating the incident, little was left in the puzzle for the military investigators to piece together; especially once it was determined the two victims were in fact the perpetrator's wife and the man she was having an on-going affair with. After the shocking beginning of the novel, the reader in taken on a journey throughout the life and career of the characters while interlacing the technical jargon and vernacular of naval flight training and the nuances of the military lifestyle. Combined with a steamy undercurrent of lust, love, sexual fulfillment, jealousy and primordial desires of the cast of characters, the human condition of married life versus the structure and demands of military careers are juxtaposed against the strength and will of personal upbringing and ethical behavior.… (plus d'informations)

Murder on The Naval Base by Bechet Kaya is a gripping thriller novel. I practically had to force myself to put it down at nights so I didn’t get sucked into that “one more chapter” zone. I thought Kaya did a fine job of developing the characters—well enough for me to care for, identify with, and sympathise with. That’s a tricky job, but I thought everything was so well done was with this book. The dialogue between characters was pretty skillfully delivered, taught and punchy in each scene. From the overall plot to technical details this book really hits the mark. Murder on The Naval Base is a page-turner with well developed characters, plot, and plausible and compelling story line. I give it the highest of recommendations. ( )

Murder on the Naval Base is a slow steady story about Lieutenant Anderson Garrett Belguzar being accused of a double murder. His wife Bevin and her lover, Andersons former best friend Charles McPhearson were shot each a single time. Behcet Kaya takes you back in time and through the history of each of these characters. The not so secret affair of Bevin and Charles is a steamy love that neither one can resist. The novel takes you through the Naval court hearing. I found this to be predictable with one unexpected part I did enjoy. If you are looking for a lustrous military novel you may enjoy this one. ( )

Murder on the Naval Base is the story of Lieutenant Anderson Garrett Belguzar who has been accused of the murder of his wife Bevan and his former best friend Charles who have been having an affair. At first the evidence against Garrett is overwhelming until you read on and the mystery cleverly unravels that surrounds the homicide.

The plot was well constructed with enough red herrings that kept me confused as to exactly who to think was the murderer. There were twists and turns of the investigation and kept me avidly turning the pages as I changed my mind back and forth as to the guilty party. The characters are well developed and came across with a warm familiarity as I got to know them. The level of detail regarding the naval procedures was excellent considering that the author, as far as I know, has never served. Well written and I highly recommend to anyone who loves a good Murder/Mystery novel. ( )

Like this story because it goes to present day then goes back alternating chapter style so you can find out the sordid details of the relationships before the murder.
Lot of entanglements when Devon was not able to win the prize of a rich husband that she wanted, thanks to his mother. Instead she picks his friend but they join up again and so many find out, all but the husband.
Love hearing of the pilot training and achievements and how he is able to cope with the nighttime images that plague him even decades after his mother is no longer alive.
They both have a lot in common, mostly their past growing up with no parents.
He is really into his career and travels all over the US for not only training but schooling. She stays in one location and he hopes to find them together upon his surprise early entrance...
Like hearing how the others in the unit treat him in different phases of his work.
Like how all the pieces are fitting together til we see the final picture and who it was that really killed the couple in public.
Unbelievable ending, never saw THAT coming, whoa! SO many details come to light at the court trial
Really like this author's style of writing and have read many of his works. Something for everyone in this story.
Relationships over the years, travel, adventure, careers, love, romance, tiny details are so important. ( )

This is the second novel by author Bechet Kaya, and having read both I can confirm that although the novels are completely different from each other, they are both very well-written and equally as intriguing.

Murder on the Naval Base is a murder mystery novel that is filled with tension, romance, action and uncertainty, as I found myself flip-flopping between a belief the main protagonist (Lieutenant Anderson Belguzar) is as guilty as sin one minute and innocent the next. Belguzar is accused of the double murder of his wife and his best friend and it appears to be an open and shut case for the prosecutors as all evidence points to Belguzar’s guilt. Will Anderson’s Attorney find the real truth and unearth what really happened? Well either way he has his work cut out for him on this case.

I really enjoyed the way Kaya tells this complex story. He made it so compelling that I struggled to put the book down, in fact at times I felt as though I was rushing through the pages as I was too eager to learn what happened next! The characters are so well forged that I felt from early on that I’d gotten to know them personally. I highly recommend this to anyone who is into suspense, thrillers, murders mysteries or legal thrillers. I look forward to more from the author. ( )
