Agree with juglicerr as many of the references are out dated and hard to understand. Some notes would have been helpful. I was only a baby when these strips first came out. ( ) This collection of reprinted cartoons by Garry Trudeau is not one of my favorite books, but it does date back to the time when I rushed to read his strip every day. Baby boomers will probably enjoy re-reading and remembering. Younger people may not understand some of it since many of the strips deal with events that haven't been current for decades, but some are more timeless and still as valid today as ever. An aquaintance of mine (to whom I gave this book) using the Doonesbury books to teach his children about recent history. They don't understand a lot of the references, so he discusses the subjects with them and then they appreciate the humor and learn something. Duke's feud with John Denver begins. Duke becomes Governor of American Samoa, and appoints Zonker lieutenant governor, where Zonk begins his pursuit of the perfect tan. Dick and Lacey Davenport have finally married. Baby Kim, the last orphan baby out of Viet Nam and Mike's future second wife, is introduced. I just love the serendipity of this strip. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
