I was rather pleasantly surprised, though I have to admit I didn't have very high expectations. I violinist finds a mysterious piece of music that seems to have evil effects - she travels to Italy to solve the mystery, only to find that part of the mystery is a brain tumor in her head. A quick read, but still one which had a couple of surprises and nice twists. It does seem like Gerritsen tried to put a lot into a tiny little book, making the wrapping up of the story a bit rushed. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

The story has elements of a detective and mystery story. As the story is partially set in Italy, it also resembles early gothic stories. There are quite a number of stock elements of the story, such as the setting of an antique shop, and a character named Todesco; the first part of whose name "Tod" means death.
The story is well-written, and had me fascinated most of the time, however, all the while holding in mind that the writer is like a magician creating a illusion by toying with what is shown and what remains hidden.
It was quite fun to read. ( )
