Loving the covers on this one. "Dark Age" is right, things are looking pretty freaking dim for our heroes. It must be tons of fun to completely reimagine the DC universe and change key storylines that have been around for 50+ years. This is cool and I'm super curious how everything's going to go down. ( )

Wow! That was completely unexpected!

The writing turned around with this volume, and in a great way. The turn of events was very surprising.

Sad to see James Robinson go but Tom Taylor keeps the story going strong and the art from Nicola Scott is still great. ( )

The title is not wrong. This is a much, much, much darker Earth 2 than the previous three volumes (and that’s saying something since the previous three volumes were basically about the destruction of a world). There’s the big question of the TPB, is Earth 2’s Superman back and working for/been brainwashed by Darkseid? Or if not, who is this Superman that’s raining destruction down on the world. But, that’s not the only question that runs through this TPB. There’s also the question of, who is this much, much darker Batman?

We also get to meet a new female Red Tornado with someone in the robot’s body that we all know very well, a female Aquawoman (though don’t call her that) who is Queen of Atlantis, James Olsen as a super hacker, and then there’s Val (a male). We don’t learn a ton about Val in this TPB, but we learn just enough that, man do I want to know more.

It’s quite a rag tag bunch taking their first steps to try and get their Earth Back, but so far it’s an awesome story and I can’t wait to see where it goes. I even liked the New Batman’s origin story that we learn at the end of the TPB.
