Honey's human is photographing a local dog show and Honey and her friends are going along. Honey's breeder is there, along with Anya, Honey's doppelganger who is entered in the show. Creepy things are happening: a mysterious howling is scaring everyone and dogs who have a chance at winning are getting taken out of the competition. Naturally, Honey and her friends, plus some new dog show friends, are out to solve the mysteries.

As with the first book, there's a deeper, more serious, thread running through this story of talking animals. It's about standing up, admitting what you've done wrong, and doing what you can to make it right.

These books are really sweet. I look forward to diving in whenever a new story comes out.

I haven't read the first one, but this can definitely be read as a stand alone.
Having said that, I wan't to read all the other books about Honey now. This book is so cute, written from the perspective of Honey, the slobbery Great Dane, as she solves a mystery with the help of her poochy friends.
Honey is the dog version of Nancy Drew. This book is emotional, scary, filled with adventure, charming and a joy to read for any age.

Beautifully written, it gives each dog a unique voice, which is completely characteristic for their breed. I felt like I was at a dog show and the dogs around me where talking.

Highly recommended read. ( )

The second book in the Big Honey Dog Mysteries series is even better than the first!

Honey and many of her neighborhood canine friends end up at a dog show Honey’s human is in charge of photographing. There are pedigreed dogs everywhere and all are eager to win BUT there are rumors that the dog show is haunted. Howls followed by darkness and disaster seem to plague the event leaving Honey and her friends eager to find out who or what is behind all of the trouble. Once again Ms. Hanna brings in ideas that will help the reader to learn and grow while reading. Some of the issues brought up include cheating, rumor mongering, winning, sportsmanship, friendship, jealousy, overcoming disaster, friendship, doing one’s best, learning from mistakes - life issues we all need to come to terms with so we can learn to be the best we can be.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book to read and review. ( )
