I chose this book because I did not know anything about Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, but this book gave me a lot of knowledge in just one little short story. He was not only a great pilot, but a great writer and poet also. As a young child, all he could dream about was flying. His mother said it was dangerous, so he held off learning to fly for a bit until he was drafted into the aviation regiment as a mechanic. While working he knew he did not want to fix the planes, but learn how to fly them and that is just what he did even if it was against his mothers will. He flew for the regime for a couple years until he crashed his plane. Since he crashed he had to find another paying job, but he was not happy at all no matter how much money he was making. So, he found a job delivering mail by air to other countries and this is where he found his most love in flying. He had to stop during the night, so he stopped in the Arabian desert. He had always wrote to his mother, but this is where he found his love for writing stories and poems. Once life settles, down for Antoine, he becomes sad and lonely once again, so he writes and draws of a boy in his stories. I think this boy was him just in a new life; he was writing what he wished he could still do. The story of Antoine is very inspiring and inspirational. I think what he was trying to convey was no matter what always chase your dreams because they can lead to amazing and great things. If you like "The Little Prince," then this additional look at Saint-Exupery's life is well worth the time. Illustrations reflect the Little Prince's commitment to fantasy and subtle absurdity.I am biased when it comes to The Little Prince, so I loved this book about Antoine de Saint-Exupery. It begins with his childhood, and his dermas of going to far away lands. Readers find out what inspired to write The Little Prince. For example, I did not know that his wife was the rose in Little Prince. The first pages also have pictures of Antoine from childhood and adulthood. This books could be used as a way to get students to learn more about World Wars I and II as well as learn about the use of planes in the wars and planes used for mail. This book could also be used as an introduction to reading Little Prince or one of his other books that are also mentioned in the book. i think the theme is to follow your dreams, and the most important things are not material objects like money but rather love. I like the illustrations. There are a couple words that students will have to look up, but it is well written. Overall, I would recommend this to any English or history class, or anyone who enjoys Little Prince. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

As a child, Antoine dreamed of flying. His dream was realized when he became a pilot, first serving France during World War I, then working as an international mail courier. As he wrote letters to his family describing the foreign countries he visited, he soon discovered that writing contained its own sense of adventure. His stories showed a childlike fascination with the world, culminating with The Little Prince, one of the best-selling books ever published. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
