Want to know if the whole series is worth reading? Read my overall review of the whole series at seriesousbookreviews.com! Spoiler Free!

Because I put my hold on Better When He's Bold ASAP at my library, I got the brand new copy in my hands a few days after it's release date--and I'm so glad I did!

It was a great sequel and was everything I thought it would be. I would say the romance happens a lot more quickly than in "Bad" because the characters have met before. However, I still felt like the romance balanced well with the suspenseful plot-lines.

I think I enjoyed the story more in the first book because it was more mysterious to me and had a few more twists. But this story was just as exciting and I really didn't figure everything out until I was supposed to so I really didn't mind. It set up everything perfectly for the next book and I can't wait until I can read Better When He's Brave!

I really enjoyed Better When's He's Bold, the second book in the Welcome to the Point series by Jay Crownover. First off, I'm a huge fan of Jay's work and will read anything she writes. When I read the first book in the series, I was very torn. I loved all the characters but felt guilty cheering for the bad guys. I was completely over that by the end and couldn't wait to get my hands on this second book in the series. It just keeps getting better and better. Race is the perfect combination of good versus evil and you can't help but cheer for him along the way. I thought this one ends kind of abruptly, things were really starting to heat up, so get ready for a cliff hanger - but the good news is that the 3rd book is already out, so you won't have to wait long to continue on the story line.
Can't wait to read what is next with the bad boys of the Point.
Enjoy and Happy Reading! ( )

We’re back on Point with Race’s story.. Race was a huge part of the first book being Dovie’s brother who made tons of sacrifices in his life to save his sister and best friend Bax.

One of those was killing the man who ran the Point and taking over and trying to not necessary clean it up but defiantly run it with less violence and killing. It’s a huge undertaking he’s taken on but he’s determined to see it through.

Race Hartman wasn’t born in the Point. He was born on the Hill but found out real quick it didn’t matter if you came from money even evil lurked on the good side of town and his father was the epitome of that. Even though he is now totally ensconced in the Point’s seedier side of life he still has goodness deep inside him and prefers to do his fighting with his brains and not his fist. But either way he still comes home with blood on his hands.

Brysen Carter is Dovie’s best friend even though they didn’t grow up on the same side of town. Brysen also started off with an upscale family but circumstances have landed her and her 16 year old sister in dire straits. She had to move back home to take care of her sister as her parents have gone off the deep end.

Race has always both scared and fascinated Brysen and after a chance meeting at a party Race decides he is tired of beating around the bush with her and makes a play. Its not long before they both figure out she has a stalker that is trying to harm her and that’s something Race just wont let happen.

This series is about good and bad and how sometimes even though you’re a good person you have to turn a blind eye or live with things you normally wouldn’t because you love someone – its also the same in reverse – some of these people are bad but for love they are willing to try and walk a better line. But Race and Bax and Nassir are getting some major push back from someone that wants to take their throne of running the Point away from them.

I’m really curious about the next book which is Titus book who is the only “good” guy of the group as he is a police officer who refuses to bend to the other side..

Better When He’s Bold…

I don’t know how, but Jay Crownover has created another brilliant book, but she has far succeeded expectations. (At least for me, that is.)

I definitely wasn’t for sure if this book would be able to compete with any of the other books in Jay’s series. I mean Better When He’s Bad was pretty freakin’ amazing, and I didn’t totally like Race as a character in that book. He seemed too out of his element and kind of a side character trying to pull all the strings without truly succeeding.

But then I opened the book.

And I fell in love.

Brysen is a character that kind of reminded me of Shay in the Marked Men Series. She had this outer shell that put off this unattainable, socialite image that didn’t want to dirty her hands with the Point. At first glance, she was superficial and had never experienced any sort of hardship. Then I got to see under the picture perfect image. Brysen was actually the girl that had too much on her shoulders and was struggling to not only keep her family together, but also her own head afloat. Add in a little sister to try and protect and a seemingly dangerous stalker obsessed with her, Brysen definitely isn’t the image she presents to the world, or to Race.

Speaking of Race, *swoon*. He portrays the “bad guy”, but only because he tries to rule the Point. There is such a reversal of roles in this series as those you expect to be “bad” are really the ones trying to save others (for the most part, some people are just s.o.l.). Then you have the people from the other side of the tracks, the supposedly “good” ones, or in other words, the ones that are rich enough to hide all their secrets behind money (a.k.a. Race’s father… It’s almost like a Luke Skywalker kind of thing with Darth Vader). Now in the first book, Race wasn’t my favorite person. He seemed like he was trying to control people behind the scenes and be this “evil mastermind”. Yet in this book, I got to see a side of Race that I didn’t expect and kind of grew to love.

To make it short: Together they were PERF!

So many things happened in this book that I really didn’t expect… This book surprised me at every turn and this is one of the few reasons this book deserved all FIVE stars.

This book is too amazing to pass up, so go and check it out asap!

side note: I would definitely read this series in order :) ( )

4.5 "Be My Queen" Stars! Loved it! Jay Crownover is a master at building multidimensional characters in a multifaceted world! Like in the real world, the characters in the fictional community of The Point (the stereotypical hood) and The Hill (the upper class suburbs), are neither all good nor bad, but instead lie somewhere in between, constantly straddling societal conventions to define who they truly are. This love story was real, raw and "bold," and had me on the edge of my seat, with my heart in my throat, constantly rooting for the safe haven that only true love can provide!

We commence this book at a pivotal time at The Point. Bax's father, the evil ruling mobster, has been taken down by Race and Bax and new leadership is swarming to take control. Race, greatly aided by his right-hand man Bax, is at the top of that heap, trying to determine how to assume the role as the King of the Point without becoming everything they fought to take down.

Race, however, is a smart man, and a bold one at that, and is quick to come to terms with the reality that there will always be bad in places like the Point, but as it's ruler he can make sure that the badness doesn't spiral out of control. So he makes alliances, and has to do things, that threaten his very nature. Can he manage to save The Point without selling his soul to the devil?

Into this chaotic world, enters Brysen, Race's sister's best friend. Brysen really doesn't fit in either The Point or The Hill. Symbolically raised right at the bottom of The Hill, where The Hill meets The Point, she straddles both worlds, but is accepted by neither. Not a good place to be, but she seems to handle it as best she can, and is even the anchor that tries to keep her family together, until her parents' action combine to lead them into danger that she can no longer handle.

Race steps right in, and decides to take on Brysen's plight as her own self-appointed protector. Soon the sparks start to fly, but can there possibly be a future for two people who live in such different parts of the societal strata? Once the dust settles, will their chemistry be enough to overcome society's prejudices and stereotypes?

Race is another yummy alpha hero. I loved his fierce determination to protect what he considers his own. There were also some hot, passionate scenes and the romance and suspense were both well developed.

All in all, Ms. Crownover has produced another hit! I love Ms. Crownover's characters and how they struggle with very real societal issues and pressures. Although Ms. Crownover's heroes in Welcome to the Point seem hard and dangerous on the outside, they nonetheless always in the end find the sole remaining soft spots in their hearts for the women they can't help but love. The next story should be an interesting change of pace, as the hero will be Bax's brother, Titus, a police officer. So for the first time, we will get to see how Ms. Crownover handles the societal pressures from the other side of the law, a good guy struggling with when a little bad is actually good for the world. I can't wait to read Titus' story in Better When He's Brave scheduled to be released in August.
