With his characteristic wit and clarity, award-winning author Kevin DeYoung has written an accessible introduction to the Bible that answers important questions raised by both Christians and non-Christians. This book will help you understand what the Bible says about itself and encourage you to read and believe what it says―confident that it truly is God's Word. One of my pet peeves is when a book is admittedly "introductory" or "beginner" and the author uses that as an excuse for bad arguments - such is the case here. About 3/4 of this book is perfectly fine, introductory level explanation of the conservative Protestant view of Scripture. However, the argument for inerrancy is packed with all kinds of questionable assumptions. The "Jesus's View of Scripture" section is rife with arguments from silence and psychological counterfactuals. I agree with the conclusions, but the arguments are just inexcusably paltry! The well annotated bibliography at the end is what redeems this book from a 2/5 to a 3/5. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Why is the Bible reliable, authoritative, or even necessary? DeYoung tackles these questions and more as he builds a compelling case for trusting, using, and relying on Scripture as the Word of God for all of life. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
