We have the same cast of characters in this book as in the previous ones so it would be a bit helpful for the reader to read them in order but not absolutely necessary. There is a departure from the marine theme of the previous books. That was a risk due to the author's background in the maritime industry. A risk that paid off. I believe this story is a logical extension of the previous books.
R.E. McDermott is a genuine top tier author that has crafted a good cast of characters for his stories. I am enthusiastically waiting for his next installment. I highly recommend his books to anyone especially thriller fans. (
