Lillian Appleby longs for adventure. She slips away from her Florida town's July 4, 1900, celebration planning to comb the beach and meets a Bible-reading "pirate". No one believes her story, and plans proceed for her to marry the postmaster, a man she doesn't love. But her heart says "wait".

To my husband, Troy, for taking on more household and childcare duties while I wrote. And to my children, Josh, JT, Dalton, Tessa, and Cassidy, for being patient during my hours at the computer. Also to my parents, Myron and Sharon, and in-laws, Don and Lora, for their encouragement. Most of all I dedicate this story to my ninety-seven-year-old grandmother, Mary Ellen, who is my constant inspiration. Though nothing like the character in my book, my grandmother has a spunk and a love for the Lord that inspires us. I love you all!
Acknowledgments Thanks to Pamela G., Tamela H. M., and Debby M. for the support, critiques, and advice on this story. A heartfelt thanks goes out to my sister, Shelly, and brother-in-law, James, for their suggestions that got me going. And a special thanks to my brother, Kent, who encourages everyone to keep their focus on the Lord.
