"As you read these pages, you'll speed through the 13.7 billion years that went into making the incredible, life-sustaining, one-in-a-billion planet we call home. You'll also learn about some of the amazing stuff that came about along the way: exploding supergiant stars, gassy planet burps, massive millipedes, ferocious dinosaurs and even a meteoric extinction. Are your ready? Let's get cooking!"--From the publisher's description.… (plus d'informations)

This book is a science step-by-step guide to make and build your own Earth. It first teaches students about the different aspects of the Earth such as: atmosphere, shift, shape, the different planets that surround the Earth, the signs of life, etc. After introducing students to these ideas and teaching them about them, it then instructs students on a process of creating their own Earth. This is GREAT for students who are inclined to learn and create through art. It can also be very interactive for students, and can be a great source for our kinesthetic and visual learners, because they have a hands-on activity to participate in and be a part of, while still learning about the Earth and it's features. The book talks about the different elements about planets and the background information about them. It gives history to how planets have come to be giving more context to students. It talks about light years, the big bang, and a variety of other topics giving context to how the universe was created. There is information for upper grades but information that can be used for the lower grades when broken down. The book provides pictures for students to see what the author is talking about more context to understand. There are a variety of topics discussed in this book that can appeal to students. Having the teacher break it down and simplify them will allow students to get a greater understanding. ( )

This is a very engaging informational text about the different elements of a planet with Earth being a central example. The book will take the reader through various steps that make up the various components that make up how a planet can fully function. This would be a good book to introduce planet earth and the structures that make up its overall state of existence. The book would be useful in introducing students to elements of life. Such as particles and the different timelines that show the development of Earth as well as other planets. Students could create their own planet based on the constraints of planet Earth as a model to sustain life. Students would then create steps of how their planet was created and how those steps are important to the composition of their planet. This would be connected with a writing unit of a story that occurs on the planet of their creation. ( )

This is a fun book that would be great while talking about earth and planets. Often students ask BIG questions that are challenging to answer without a supportive text. This book does just that. In fact, this book answers: how do you make a planet? Not only does it include fun text features such as images, captions, and diagrams, but it is also written in "kid-friendly" language. During a 5E instructional plan this could be used as a tool during the "explain"portion. ( )
