Desperate to get some sleep, on the night before his wedding, Mouse is kept awake by the loud snoring of Sleeping Beauty, in whose enchanted castle he lives. When Max the prince arrives, Mouse thinks he is saved, but the beautiful sleeper's loud sounds give that royal savior pause. Can Mouse convince Max that Snoring Beauty is worth the trouble, in time to save his own marriage day...?

With a fun rhyming text from author Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen and bright, colorful artwork from illustrator Jane Manning, Snoring Beauty offers up an entertaining fairy-tale mash-up, one that would make for a good read-aloud at story-time. I did wonder, as I was reading, why the enchantment over Sleeping Beauty's castle hadn't sent Mouse himself to sleep, but leaving aside that quibble, this is a cute revisionist take on a classic tale, one which has an amusing ending. Recommended to fans of fractured fairy-tales, and to anyone looking for picture-books in rhyme. ( )

I like this book because of the illustrations and story line. The main idea of this story was retelling of sleeping beauty, only this beauty snored and a mouse had to save the day. The illustrations of the book were amazing, they had vivid colors and helped the story move along. If a reader were confused by the wording the illustrations were coordinated enough to just look at them and they would understand. The story line was interesting because it was not the classical sleeping beauty story. When the prince arrived he thought a bear were sleeping not the princess. In the end the mouse saved the day and found out his wife snored as well. I found it perfect for second graders that may here their parent snore. ( )

Fun, silly take on the fairy tale. Will make an entertaining read aloud. ( )
