Molly Murphy's beau Captain Daniel Sullivan may be out of jail on bail, but he's still a ways from clearing his name, and his foul mood has Molly in search of a little breathing room when providence steps in in the form of a proposition from New York City's renowned theatrical impresario Tommy Burke.America has been very good to Tommy, and now that he's getting on in years, he'd like to pass some of that good fortune on to his family back in Ireland. That's, of course, if Molly can find the long-lost baby sister his family left in the care of a parish priest when they fled the famine and avoid the warrant out for her arrest that forced Molly to flee herself. Tempted by the prospect of going home for the first time in years and putting her fledgling detective agency on firm financial ground, Molly throws caution to the wind and climbs aboard the White Start Liner Majestic with hopes of sneaking on and off the isle without raising a peep. But even before Molly lands on the other side of the Atlantic, Broadway's leading actress, Oona Sheehan, has gone missing from the ship, and her maid is found dead in her cabin.Full of rich historic detail and enchanting turn-of-the-century personalities, Molly's return home, In Dublin's Fair City, is the sixth thrilling installment in Rhys Bowen's award-winning Molly Murphy series.… (plus d'informations)

This one wasn't nearly as light-hearted as the ones before it. Molly is sent on a seemingly innocent assignment to Ireland but finds herself mixed up in the beginnings of civil war. There was a lot of great historical details in this story---much of which was new to me. Molly was able to wrap up some loose ends at home and gained a new appreciation for Daniel. All in all, a pretty good story. ( )

Molly Murphy travels to Ireland at the behest of Tommy Burke to locate his long lost sister Mary Ann Burke. Molly travels on the Majestic, the same ocean liner that brought her to the USA the first time. She changes cabins with Oona Sheehan, a Broadway stage star, at Oona's request. This begins the mystery, why is the maid killed? and what is so heavy in Oona's trunks? ( )

Could barely finish. As annoying as Daniel and Molly's relationship is, even a book without much Daniel in it couldn't be saved. ( )

Molly returns to Ireland to search for Mary Ann Burke, who had been left behind during the famine. But, while boarding the ship, she takes a second, seemingly innocent assignment, for Oona Sheenan. Unbeknownst to Molly, Oona has left the ship. When Oona's maid is murdered, Molly must reveal her true identity to the the authorities. Now, her fate is entangled with a murder, and she is unsure if Mary Ann is even alive.

Thinking that her plight with Oona is over, she continues to seek Mary Ann, only to be kidnapped and interrogated to determine what her motivations are. Rather to be with, than against, the brotherhood, she finds out that her brother Joseph is set to be executed. Molly attempts to break him out, but the causalities are great.... ( )

Molly agrees to go back to Ireland to search for a well known New York theatrical impresario's left behind sister.... His only known relative is a good-for-nothing nephew whom he is loathe to leave a penny to.

Once aboard ship, famous actress Oona Sheehan, also hires Molly as her stand-in, claiming weariness of her fans. In route, Oona's maid is murdered & Molly stupidly ignores the fact that she has had words with the murderer.

Once in Ireland, Molly finds the actress's trunks filled with guns and while searching for the lost sister, unwittingly becomes involved with the Irish Republican Brotherhood and the struggle to free her brother from jail.

All in all, a very well written book. Once I began I was not wanting to put it down.... ( )
