The writing was well done - but the level to which it pushes severe dysfunction as normative - is downright repulsive. If rather than assuming that wolf packs behave in the manner of old wives tales, you review the latest research - you will see that these dysfunctions are not from the wolf side - which means they are from the human side - and very consistent with the very worst behaviors displayed by authority figures who have no accountability. ( )

This was again a very good book. Quite a different setting to start with and while initially I was not sure about the author's choices, I think they paid off well in the end.

Firstly the blurb is extremely inaccurate. Charming is certainly not sent off as a double agent against a werewolf clan - he basically stumbles into a messy situation by accident.

Secondly I found this book was very interesting in the way it tried to see how Charming would fair in a closely knit group - without spoiling anything, not very well but the plot and actions made sense.

Thirdly one of my biggest grievances was the lack of Sig, but the last part of the book really ramped things up.

Its an interesting entry in the series that kept me engaged and I picked up book 3 immediately ( )

This series is a fun take on how the supernatural might exist in our modern world unseen. It has a similar tone to Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series, yet is different enough from anything else I've read to be its own world. I'm really enjoying it so far, and look forward to more. ( )

I really like Elliott James. The snark and humor of his characters remind me a little of Jim Butcher, but are in no way a copy. His worlds are richly realized and diverse. This story is a continuation of the original. The character is from the Charming family, as in 'Prince Charming', except he's not exactly heroic. If you're looking for something a little different and you're a fan of urban fantasy, check out his books. ( )

I liked this book even better than the first one in the series but I'm not sure why. The main character is smart, funny, and very honorable. He makes a good hero. The plot was straightforward but still managed to have some twists and surprises. I also like the humor that the author gets into his character (mostly sarcasm and snarkiness. The characters are interesting, whether they're real people or legends or something else. ( )
