The premise for this story felt really forced given the resolution to the Dark Phoenix Saga back in 1980 when, spoiler alert, Gladiator and the rest of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard sentenced Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix to death for the exact same crime she's put on trial for here. It was a trial by combat. On the moon. The X-Men won. And Dark Phoenix/Jean Grey/retconned-to-not-actually-be-Jean-Grey commits suicide to save the universe from herself. So why, years later, did Gladiator, who was THERE AT HER FIRST TRIAL decide that all of a sudden young Jean Grey, who was never even bonded to the Phoenix Force, is somehow responsible and has to stand trial again? It makes no sense.

That said, the execution is pretty interesting. And Cyclops meeting Corsair was well done and led to an awesome spin-off series so that's good. The Kitty Pryde/Starlord romance goes to places I'm not looking forward to so that's... meh, but, yeah: Horrible premise, good execution. ( )

Reread of Baby!Jean Arc

Most of these were read in a blur of summer bliss in a hammock in a backyard garden as I finally followed up on my original reads of the baby!Jean storyline that I'd gotten half into before falling out of again. I really do continue to love this storyline mostly for her.

This one is delightful in the fact it continues the warpath the Shi'ar went on after Jean died, when they originally killed everyone in her genetic line in case The Phoenix might return to her line. This time, they put baby Jean up for trial on the genocide caused by her older self back in [b:X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga|103111|X-Men The Dark Phoenix Saga|Chris Claremont|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1409504820l/103111._SY75_.jpg|99407]. There are so many feelings here and I feel it's actually handled as being the crazy it sounds like.

The Guardians of the Galaxy graphic novels I've been able to find in my library system have been hit or miss for me, but I really liked this one. The crossover with the All-New X-Men was a fun pairing, and left me wanting to read more X-Men.
I liked the nice, splashy artwork, but it was hard to tell what was going on in some panels, mostly if there was a battle going on.
The humor was as good as the Guardians movie, and great lines were equally distributed among the Guardians and the X-Men. Well, maybe Rocket Raccoon had a few extra, and not much can beat a well-timed "I am Groot." ( )

Now I have to start reading another Marvel series All New X-Men, I loved this crossover found it so much more satisfying then the Infinity crossover for me as a new reader. GotG are my favorite marvel comic. The action and humor were terrific. I hope Bendis's writing in X-men is as good as Gotg. ( )

A really cool crossover with the All-New X-Men and the Guardians of the Galaxy, reliving the trial of Jean Grey, with some different characters, and much different results. I like the direction that this took. The art work is well done as well. ( )
