"Autobiographical account of one of foremost Nisei (Japanese American 2nd generation) activists. Recounting family history for her grandchildren, her strong beliefs in fighting for human rights, political prisoners, the relationship her family had with Malcolm X, and the Asian American Movement, the movements of the 60s, and her recent years after moving from Harlem to Oakland. Accompanied by rich photographic images, many of which were found in UCLA Library's ""Yuri Kochiyama Collection"" (an Asian American Movement Special Collection) and provided courtesy of the Asian American Studies Center. Other subjects Kochiyama write about are World War II and U.S. internment camps; Japanese American Redress and Reparations; Third World Movements and Struggles; Puerto Rican Independence movement; anti-Vietnam War Movement; and her travels to Cuba and Peru."
