This story is very cute and tells the story of how the bond between father and child can help you get through anything. It is also indicative of the way that whales migrate and what that looks like for them. I really enjoyed this story overall. I would also use this to help teach about migration and ecosystems. I also think you might be able to use this book to teach children about water and how whales communicate with one another. This story also gives an example of what good questioning can look like. ( )

This was a beautiful book, but all I was thinking the whole time I was reading about whale songs was "Maybe he only speaks whale. Mmmmmmwwweeeee neeeeedddd tooooo fiiiiind hiis soooooooonn..."

Following Papa's Song written by Gianna Marino is about a little whale not listening to his Papa whale. Papa whale told the little whale to not go far and if he listened, he would hear Papa. The little whale did go far and got lost. He stopped to remember what Papa said. He listened for Papa and heard him to find his way to Papa. A lot of times children find their own way and get lost. It helps them to stop and listen or remember their way. Important lesson, to listen what is told. ( )
