Evelene was an amazing woman who was raised in Superior, NE, and went on to become "one of the world's highest paid woman executives in the 1920s." She had an exciting, fairy tale life. Unfortunately the first 2/3 of the book was confusing and quite boring at times. It got better towards the end when the author had personal memories and stories about Evelene. ( ) This was a great look at the life of an overlooked woman who was a powerhouse of business acumen. American Evelene Brodstone was born and raised in Nebraska. Through hard work and savvy, she began working at the Vestey Cold Storage Company in Chicago and also in London. Evelene became the right-hand of the company's officers, and eventually married one of them, becoming Lady Vestey, a member of the British aristocracy. The book was written by an acquaintance of Lady Vestey's. The personal touch is much in evidence, especially in the latter portion of the book. Lady Vestey's diaries and letters are used throughout the book and give a voice to this hard-working woman. Recommended. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
