Yup you guessed it, something went horribly wrong and he passes. Piper is riddled with guilt, she thinks because she was so concentrated on her broken heart she didn't notice her dad in trouble and therefore didn't save him. Nine years have passed and she has come back home. Her brother,Ben, has had an accident and is in financial trouble. The whole family needs to pull together to make sure he doesn't lose his home and family business. Will the sparks still fly when Piper and West see one another? Can this family heal all it's invisible wounds or will they lose each other more than they already have? And what is going on with West's dad, Bill...is he ill? I won't give away any more of the plot or points of interest but will say it's a true love conquers all story. I cried to know what Piper felt, how guilty and helpless. Seeing the whole family still dealing with Michael's death and the secrets each of them sought to hide from everyone. West....his emotional journey and growth in this book gave me a few tears too. How can a successful and charming man be such a damaged child on the inside? And will he learn his lessons and forgive before history repeats itself. A good way to spend an afternoon. I loved the small town island setting and the fact that everyone was like one big family. It's one of those books that you want to live in! I really enjoyed the interaction between Piper and West, especially how it evolved throughout the book. It was very emotional and I found myself brokenhearted at times but also laughing and swooning in other occasions. The love scenes were very well-written, descriptive enough to keep you on the edge of your seat but not so much that they became boring. Piper was great as a strong female lead, I found myself rooting for her from the start, truly hoping she got her happy ending after having gone through so much heartache. Not just from having her heart broken by West nine years ago, but also the death of her father, the guilt and the alienation that came afterwards. West was definitely likable and swoon worthy but in the beginning I didn't quite trust him. This obviously changed as the story progressed and I got to know more about him. By the end I was totally captivated by West. What's not to love, he was hot, playful and flirtatious. "West stopped digging long enough to tug the hem of his shirt up to wipe his brow, exposing the hard planes of his stomach. He winked when he turned his head and caught her staring."
