Professionally, Dr. Alec Johnson has almost reached his goals. As this year's recipient of a humanitarian award with his ex, Dr. Tyler Hall, Alec's work with the homeless is about to be recognized. Unfortunately, his personal life sucks because now he has to attend several events alongside Tyler-with his ex's new boyfriend in tow. In an attempt to lift his mood and break out of his rut, Alec purchases a motorcycle he has no idea how to start. Dylan Booth doesn't have time for Dr. Clueless and his fickle 1964 Harley, but the cocky mechanic can't say no to the request for help. Having spent his teen years on the streets, and losing his best friend to HIV, Dylan decides teaching the do-gooder how to ride is the least he can do. But watching Alec flounder in his ex's company throws Dylan into protector mode, and the confirmed hetero introduces himself as Alec's new boyfriend. But Dylan's a master bullshitter, and the phony PDA soon turns ultra-hot. Alec can't afford to get attached, and Dylan's learned everyone eventually leaves. Unfortunately, playing the backup boyfriend is starting to feel way too real . . . Contains mature themes.… (plus d'informations)

It took me a LONG time to get used to this narrator. Still not a favourite ( )

River Jaymes is new on the scene, as I only see 3 books under her name. She's off to a good start.

I must have read this awhile ago as I don't recall detail except that I enjoyed the concept and being pulled along on this romp.

Alec buys a motorbike to make himself feel better after being dumped. It falls to Dylan to help him out with the less than stellar bike. Dylan has street smarts and practical knowledge, and he finds himself veering into protective mode, despite his better judgement. He ends up pretending to be Alec's boyfriend...and right there are the makings of a romantic comedy. ( )

This story ran the full gamut of emotions from funny to sad. Well written, the story was a smooth read. I loved Alec and his mother was a trip. Dylan was a hard nut to crack and while he came from a harsh background, he was basically afraid of the future. I enjoyed the way that Dylan tossed the zingers at Tyler. A wonderfully relaxing read. Nice and hot. A not-exactly-GFY story believable. I liked the characters, particularly Dylan. The development pace was good.

I especially liked the emerging questioning about labels because they can help to build identities but at once, if we cling excessively to them, they can become an iron corset. ( )

This is not my idea of a GFY romance. I wanted something sweet and fun and very much cliché. This is story is more unconventional than I would have liked. I'm usually all up for that, but this time I wanted something simple.

I liked the premise. Liked the characters, and how they interacted with each other. Their backgrounds are interesting, very much so. I didn't like that we skipped over their continued mortorcycle lessons, where we could've seen how they became sorta friends. And I didn't like that drunken sex scene either.
Also for a straight guy, Dylan was way too comfortable with anal sex. And again, before that happened, we skipped over what happened the night before. So I was missing the lead-up, which is important to me.
I also found it weird how Alec was hung up about his 2 years with his ex. He kept saying how much he invested in the relationship and he couldn't believe that after 2 years of dedication it's over. No offense to anyone, but I don't think 2 years is that much of a time.

So I had my problems with this story, but it's not overly bad. In fact I would've finished it, if I wasn't longing for something else.

Not far from Alec's intended destination, his motorcycle stalled at the stop sign, and the elderly lady behind him gunned her vehicle, flipping Alec the bird as she roared by.
