This book is an early reader so it would be good for primary level students. This book is about Pete the Cat who struggles to finds something to wear. He asked all of his friends what he should wear and they each had a different input. But in the end he realized that his outfit wasn't cool at all and very hot. So he takes it off and puts his favorite clothes on. In the end that he realizes he just needs to be himself to be cool. This book would be good to talk about self-esteem and being yourself. ( )

Pete the Cat wants to look cool, so he asks each of his friends what he should wear. Each one tells him a different thing to wear and after Pete has put on all of those pieces of clothing, he is hot!

And he does not look cool. He looks silly wearing so many different shirts.

What will Pete do? Can he look cool for school?

=========

Young readers will appreciate the lesson Pete learns here: being yourself is the way to be cool.

This I Can Read book uses basic language, word repetition, and illustrations to help young emergent readers find success in reading. As with all My First books in this series, this is a book designed for shared reading with the young reader and an adult.

Delightful illustrations, a well-known and beloved character young readers will instantly recognize, and a clever story all work together to make this a perfect early reader selection.

Highly recommended, especially for fans of Pete the Cat. ( )

Pete the Cat can't decide what outfit he should wear to make him look cool for school. He has so many colorful choices in his closet to choose from, how will he decide on one? This book was very funny because it took an issue that most students "struggle" with before the first day of school and made it humorous and turned it into a cat's problem that he is having to face. When I was a kid I was a huge fashionista can always cared about what I wore to school, especially on the first day of school. Therefore, I related to this because I always put an immense amount of pressure on myself to pick the perfect first day of school outfit. ( )

Pete the Cat is just trying to be cool. He asks his friends and family what to wear and they all pick THIER favorite things for him to wear. He puts them ALL on. He ends up wearing way too many layers and things that just don't match or look good together. Pete looks in the mirror after he is done and he feels silly and too hot. So he decides to put on HIS favorite things. Then he decides, if you wanna be cool, you just gotta be you. ( )

I want to snap to a beat every time I read a Pete the Cat book, and this one was no different. Catchy rhymes, a smooth talking cat, and a lesson about it not being what you wear, but that attitude of who is wearing it that can make all the difference.
