Being somewhat a math person, this looked like a great book to try. I enjoyed learning about some famous mathematicians and how real situations and mathematical ideas were woven though out the story. I interwove a story about a math prodigy and how he was involved in several things that kept him from doing exactly what he wanted. I enjoyed the mystery, but the mathematical part did go over my head some. I would recommend this book for someone who is into the math and mystery. I received this book for an honest review. An Elegant Solution, by Paul Robertson, is a novel filled with intrigue, mystery and exquisite prose. The story takes place in eighteenth century Basel, which the author has described in beautiful detail. The University is an important part of the city. Protagonist, "math prodigy" Leonhard Euler, is a student of Master Johann Bernoulli who holds the Chair of Mathematics. Unexpectedly, Leonhard finds himself on a search for the explanation of Johann's brother's death twenty years ago. But, this is not the only mystery of the story. I found this to be a deep, fascinating and challenging book to read with complex and mysterious characters. While most of the characters are male, I found Leonhard's grandmother to be as interesting as the others. There are enough twists and turns to keep the reader interested and the end was a surprise. Reading this book required my full attention and I found myself re-reading certain excerpts. I feel it was worth the time as I learned a great deal about an important time in history. I received this book free of charge from Bethany House and I give this review of my own free will. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
