Jillian and ex-husband Chad are enjoying a play at a local community theater when a scream interrupts the production upon discovery of a bludgeoned volunteer. When it turns out that the victim is someone Jillian interviewed for a job at her company, she becomes involved in another crime, drawn ever deeper by a second murder, an irate investor, the participation of law enforcement amateurs, an increasingly unreliable assistant, and suspicious stock trading at her company. This is the first book that I have ever read from Joyce, and I surely plan on reading more. The scene in the first chapter had me reeling, especially with the in depth details of the characters. These characters were true to life, with their "can't be bothered" attitude. As this novel does follow a real life event, I knew that it was going to be a one night read for me.

I enjoy novels that leave you guessing, Fair Disclosure provided just that. A guessing game to the end. I found the relationship between Jillian and Chad to be just as intriguing as the crime itself. The way the two interact adds almost a separate novel within the pages. Jillian and Chad's history was something that I have witnessed and was able to relate too. At least as far as the marriage and divorce part-Jillian's previous kidnapping-now that was so very subtle in the beginning. I liked how it evolved into furthering the depth of Jillian's character.

If you are looking for a great and very quick read, with twists-turns-and a fair share of plausible suspects Fair Disclosure is just the book for you. Be prepared to start the book and finish it before you realize it. ( )

This book is part of the Hillcrest Mystery series and I think I should have read the prior one before reading this but I enjoyed it immensely anyway! There were quite a few references back to the prior book in the series. Jillian, who works in a biotech corporation which is a public corporation with stockholders has the job to make sure that all investors are happy--good luck with that one-never happen!! I'm sure most of you have heard the term Fair Disclosure--well it essentially refers to the fact that ALL investors should be given the same information at the same time. I am also sure you have heard the term-insider trading-which is a BIG no no!! That is when a group of investors-usually very large ones-manage to get information not available to everyone and they act on it-making millions while everyone else loses!! This story revolves around these two concepts-people are killed, almost killed and Jillian ends up in the hospital pretty badly beaten up. The good news is she is going to re marry her ex husband. This is definitely an entertaining who done it mystery complete with a confused but brilliant police detective, Jillian's mother and the first victims Mother (troublemakers!) and a variety of other characters. Of course the FBI had to get involved as well (insider trading is a big no no). This is a continuing series and I think after reading the last few words in the book which kind of leads into it--I want to read it! ( )

I love a good murder mystery. I mean really who doen't? I have to admit that I was a little hesitant to read this one, though. Truthfully, the stock market, investing and all that goes along with it bores me tears. I know it shouldn't but it does. I was pleasantly surprised that though this book has a lot to do with this world, it turned out to be interesting and exciting. If find it even more intriguing that this book was inspired by actual events.

While Fair Disclosure - A Jillian Hillcrest Mystery is a sequel, I didn't feel lost. In fact, it has only made me want to go check out the other books that Joyce T. Strand has written. It did take me a little bit to get into the book but once I did I had a hard time putting it down. You never know what was going to happen next. Ms. Strand does a great job of shifting suspicion from one person to another. I love books where you think you know the answer and then all of the sudden you change your mind, you keep going back and forth

I would really be interested to know how much of this story is about true events. I'm sure most of the insider trading is based on true events, but murder? I wonder. I mean I know it is a cutthroat business but I did not think it literally was one.

I give this book 4 stars, only because I found it hard to get involved in the book in the beginning. While there is some violence in the book and some sexual innuendos, there are no explicit sex scenes or very graphic scenes. There is one very intense scene at the end of the book but nothing any worse than other books. I think that this book is appropriate for anyone in high school or older. Men and women will enjoy this book.

I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own. ( )

Fair Disclosure was the first Jillian Hillcrest novel that I have read. Luckily I was able to jump in and enjoy the book on it’s own although it is third in a series. I am a huge mystery fan so I loved that the story opens right away with an attempted murder, during a play that Jillian and her Ex were attending. The first intriguing aspect is that the man who was injured happened to have interviewed previously for a job at Jillian’s company. In classic who-done-it style, Jillian sets out to discover what is really going on. Fresh off of a case that left her unsure and a bit scared still. Luckily she and her Ex-husband Chad are back together so she has him to lean on.
I really loved how smooth Joyce Strand’s writing is, flowing from situation to situation. The romantic aspect was great as well! It was a more realistic look at love versus the typical fairy tale stuff you find in a lot of books. Her characters were wonderfully developed and the reader can easily connect with them.

My favourite type of book, a murder mystery with a very clever plot and with several suspects all with a motive to have killed. Even though this is the third book in the series and the first I have read the author gave you an explanation throughout the plot of what had happened in the previous two, so you knew exactly what was going on.

The characters and situations that take place are excellently described and you feel that you are there in the background as a ghost figure observing the action unfold. The beauty of this book is the emotion you feel coming from the main character as you would yourself in her situation. also the love and care of those around her.

The novel revolves around the world of insider trading and having found her prospective employer murdered and under pressure of her company being investigated makes for a really good read. I'm really looking forward to reading more from this author. ( )
