The illustrations are wonderful, and complement the simply written text of each story perfectly. I also like that the morals are written out simply after each story, so that there is no room for misinterpretation. It would be a wonderful companion to any child to help them learn some valuable lessons. The main ideas/morals include things such as little friends may prove to be great friends (lion and mouse), look before you leap (fox and the goat), and necessity is the mother of invention (crow and the pitcher.) I really enjoyed reading the short fables in “Aesop's Fables”. What I liked most was that each fable had the moral at the end in italics. Although you can interpret the meaning from reading the fable, it is nice to have it written for all levels of readers. Some examples of the morals are: "Little friends may prove to be great friends." from “The Lion and the Mouse”, “A villain may disguise himself, but he will not deceive the wise." from “The Cat and the Birds” and "Slow and steady wins the race." from “The Hare and the Tortoise”. Each fable had its own main idea. This books is a compilation of some of Aesop's classic fables. The selections include "The Tortoise and the Hare", "The Crow and the Pitcher", "The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse", and others. Each fable is short, told in kid-friendly language, includes the moral of the story, and is accompanied by a beautiful illustration that compliments the text. What I liked about this particular collection of fables was the simplicity of the moral statements. The morals where clear, concise, and matched the story well. Children will be able to easily understand the moral, both in context of the story and in life. Appropriate as a read-aloud for ages three and up. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
