In my opinion, “Questions, Questions” by Marcus Pfister is a great book. The book is organized in a sense that reading it flows smoothly, especially due to the fact that each page is a question. The structure of each page being the same because each page contains a question is what makes the book easy to follow. Also, the book has a rhythmic pattern to its language which also makes reading each page a smooth process. The book also does a good job of opening up the reader’s mind and causing them to think, because the entire book is written in questions. Also, I think that this book did a great job of sticking to one main theme. Although the book was all about different questions that someone may have, all of the questions related to nature. Having all of the questions be related to nature helps the reader focus on the topic at hand and form opinions, ideas, and answers about what they are reading. The illustrations also did a great job of enhancing the story. On each page was a colored illustration, but each colored illustration had a silver, metallic part to it. The silver metallic parts of each picture related to what the question was on the page. For example, one question asked, “What turns the rain on in the sky and brings the sun to make things dry?” On this page, there was an illustration of a cloud, but the raindrops falling from the cloud were a silver, metallic color. The silver, metallic color on each illustration is eye-catching, which causes the reader to focus specifically on the metallic colored parts of the illustrations. When the reader focuses on the metallic part of each picture, this is effective in focusing the reader’s attention into the main idea of the question on the page. The central message of this book is that there are many unanswered questions that we have, and the beauty of having questions remain unanswered is that we can imagine and make up our own ideas/answers relative to the question; this makes the world more interesting in my opinion).
